Council survey is ticked off

A COUNCIL-run survey asking people to outline their future spending priorities has been labelled a sham after only one per cent of residents responded.

Results published this week from the Delivering Better Outcomes consultation showed 1835 individuals out of West Lothian’s population of 173,000 had completed the survey.

A total of 949 council staff [12 per cent] also responded, with 2953 responses submitted overall. The survey’s 23
questions were published in full in the council’s November bulletin sent to all households and businesses.

SNP leader Councillor Peter Johnston said the lack of financial details provided
with the survey had contributed towards the poor response.

However, council leader John McGinty labelled it the most successful consultation ever undertaken by the authority, with a great deal of
suggestions provided by people already happening.
