Council plea: 'be nice to us'

CUSTOMERS are being urged to "be nice" in the latest campaign against physical and verbal abuse of council staff.

East Lothian Council is tackling rising incidents of abuse. Posters in council offices, schools and community centres will urge people to think before acting.

Deputy council leader Stuart MacKinnon said: "We hope this campaign with its message of 'respect us as we respect you' will create a safer and better working environment for all our staff."
