Corstorphine Hill murder: Accused son in court

A MAN who allegedly murdered his mother has been ordered to stand trial in the High Court.

James Dunleavy, 39, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with the murder of Phyllis Dunleavy, 66, of Dublin, Eire.

Dunleavy, of Edinburgh, made no plea or declaration to the charge when he appeared on petition before Sheriff Alistair Noble.

It is the second time that Mr Dunleavy has appeared in court on the charge - he was remanded in custody following his first appearance last week.

Police Scotland officers arrested Mr Dunleavy following the discovery of his mother’s remains in a shallow grave on Edinburgh’s Corstorphine Hill on 6 June 2013.

Sheriff Noble fully committed Mr Dunleavy for trial in the High Court. He also remanded Mr Dunleavy in custody following a brief afternoon hearing. He is expected to appear in the High Court on the murder charge within 110 days.
