Containers to be removed

A LAND owner has been ordered by the Scottish Government to remove containers from view in rural West Lothian.

Thomas Gracie appealed a decision by the local council ordering him to place in storage two portable buildings on the farmland by Armadale.

However, Holyrood’s planning department has agreed with the local authority that the green-painted containers were an eyesore to people going through the area.

Planning reporter Donald Harris said: “The containers are seen from the north from the public road.

“They are painted green and are visually associated with the garage buildings behind them.

“Even so, they are an alien intrusion into the field, clearly not designed for the purposes of agriculture.”
