A CONMAN who stole £8 million from the banks has handed back just £40,000 of the cash he stole.

Naseem who channelled the cash into accounts in Dubai, Pakistan, Spain and Belarus had paid back just £40,000. His application for an extra six months to pay was granted earlier this month.

The 34-year-old has now been given until November 4 to stump up the rest of the £8.2m he stole from Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays and HSBC.

He was jailed for nine years in 2009 but had been in custody since 2006 and so was eligible for release last year. He faces a further eight years in jail if he fails to pay back the cash.
