Concern growing over weeds at complex

CONCERNS have been raised about the lack of work done on landscaping next to the Meggetland sports pitches.

The original planning consent for Meggetland included landscaping design between the pitches and the neighbouring Allan Park Crescent.

But residents on the street have raised complaints with local councillors about the low levels of maintenance and the build up of weeds and rubbish along the boundary.

Now Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart councillor Gordon Buchan has raised a motion for the next meeting of the full council on Thursday calling for the area to be re-landscaped by putting grass down along the boundary and carrying out regular grass cutting. The 9m investment in the Meggetland Sports Complex was hailed in 2006 for transforming "a muddy windswept field" into top-quality new facilities.
