Complaint is made over Cup trip offer

AN Anywhere But England holiday competition at an Edinburgh shopping centre is being investigated by police for stirring up cross-border World Cup hostility.

Cameron Toll shopping centre is offering shoppers the chance to win a trip to the country that wins the tournament, The banner includes the words "Anywhere but England please" and the link on the centre's side says "Let's just hope it's not England, eh".

At least one shopper has complained to police that the marketing is racist. The Scotsman, 48, who did not want to be named, said: "I thought 'how can they be promoting animosity against our neighbours?'."

A centre spokesman said: "The advert is siding with our winner by hoping the prize is more than just a few miles down the road."
