Commuter road upgrade

REFURBISHMENT plans for a commuter route used by up to 2000 vehicles per hour have been welcomed by community leaders in an East Lothian
village.

A public consultation is to take place on moves for a £140,000 resurfacing of Salters Road, in Wallyford, which will also see new safety measures.

Alister Hadden, vice-chair of Wallyford Community Council, said: “It has been a nightmare for a number of years, so the community council is very much in favour of this investment to improve Salters Road,

“We carried out a survey a couple of years ago and an average of 2000 cars pass through the village every hour.”
