Community News: Meeting of minds on The Mound

A ONE-day conference at New College on The Mound tomorrow will look at recent developments in theology and therapy.

Experts in counselling, pastoral care and psychology will take part in the event, organised by Edinburgh University's Centre for Theology and Public Issues, looking at counselling and pastoral care in Scotland during the 20th century and assess current trends in the field.

EDINBURGH South Liberal Democrat MSP Mike Pringle helped out at the WRVS tea bar at the city's Royal Hospital for Sick Children to show his support for the group's efforts.

Some 40 WRVS volunteers at the hospital provide a welcome respite for children, staff and visitors in what can often be stressful and upsetting circumstances. In the past five years, the tea bar has made more than 100,000 of contributions to the hospital, including money to help refurbish the adjacent waiting area.

Best recipes brought to book

Zoo appeal just the ticket

BUS bosses are appealing for passengers to help name the vehicles which serve Edinburgh Zoo.

Lothian Buses said it was looking for members of the public to name the animal-themed services on the "Zoom to the Zoo" route. Winners will receive a family ticket to the zoo plus DayTickets there and back.

Festival has its big secret

CHILDREN aged six to 12 could win four tickets for The Secret Garden at the Festival Theatre.

A competition to write a review of the book is open until December 3. Children can hand their reviews into their local library.

The production will run from December 9 to January 8 next year.

A CITY-based property company will be on hand to offer advice at National Landlord Day being held at Dynamic Earth today.
