Colleges seek merger nod

THE merger of Stevenson, Telford and Jewel & Esk colleges has moved a step closer after formal approval was sought from the Scottish Government.

A final decision is to be made in the summer.

The opening of the new college is planned for October 1.

Chairman of the merger partnership board, Jim Ewing, said: “Working together as one college will provide more opportunities for students, staff and the community, and reflects the growing desire of the Scottish Government for colleges to work together to deliver a more economical model.”
