Cold caller stole £500

A BOGUS bank worker stole £500 after telephoning a woman in Livingston.

Police are warning people to be on their guard after the incident on Wednesday. The caller told the elderly woman her customer loyalty was being rewarded with a free holiday, and asked for bank details, which she provided.

A police spokesperson said: “We would urge everyone to avoid giving out their bank details to any cold callers.” Anyone with information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131-311 3131.
