Club thug punched victim to the ground then bit his nose

A 21-YEAR-OLD man punched another man to the ground while wearing combat gloves with sand-filled knuckles, before biting his nose, leaving part of it hanging off.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, Craig Robinson, a prisoner in Saughton, was jailed for 16 months by Sheriff Neil Mackinnon.

Robinson had pleaded guilty previously to assaulting 22-year old Michael Murray in Greenside Lane, Edinburgh, on March 4 this year. Sentence had been deferred for background reports.

Robinson and his victim had been in a night club with friends and there had been an argument between members of the two groups.

Robinson left the club, but remained outside. When Mr Murray and a friend left, the argument started again and Mr Murray was attacked. He fell and Robinson held him by the back of the head and sank his teeth into his victim's nose. He needed plastic surgery.
