Clink painting set to coin it in

A WATERCOLOUR painting of Scotland’s only open prison is expected to make between £3000 and £5000 when it goes on sale in the Capital on Saturday.

The picture of Castle Huntly near Dundee by celebrated Scottish artist James McIntosh Patrick is thought to have been painted for the previous owners before it became a prison after the Second World War.

Gavin Lindsay of auctioneers Shapes said: “I can safely say this is the first time I have been asked to sell a painting of one of Her Majesty’s prisons.”
