City's water supply tainted by acid spill

Carbolic acid has spilled into a river that supplies drinking water to Hangzhou in eastern China, knocking out supplies to more than 500,000 people and creating a run on bottled water.

A tanker truck carrying 20 tons of carbolic acid overturned on Saturday. The chemical was washed by rain into the Xin'an river 90 miles from Hangzhou.
