City’s posties are first class

EDINBURGH was among the highest performing areas of the UK for the Royal Mail before Christmas, it has been revealed.

Nationally, Royal Mail narrowly missed its first-class stamped mail target in the months leading up to Christmas but said second-class mail hit its quality target.

At a more local level, the latest report showed that 83 of the 118 postcode areas nationwide hit or exceeded the minimum quality standard of 91.5 per cent. The EH postcode, covering Edinburgh and part of the Lothians, had a 95.1 per cent score.
