City wary of backlash by Bon Accord

City of Edinburgh will expect a tough time when they face Bon Accord in the men’s first division of the Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League
tomorrow.

Edinburgh thumped the
Aberdeen side 25-14 25-10 25-17 in a one-sided Scottish Cup final in Wishaw last April and Bon Accord will be out for some revenge.

Edinburgh player-coach Barry McGuigan was happy to see his side open their league campaign with a four-set win over Edinburgh Jets last weekend but there were some testing moments during the match.

New signing Jason Ebbin came up with some big blocks at a crucial stage in the match and it helped swing things
Edinburgh’s way.

Bon Accord also opened with a victory, 3-1 at home to Dundee, and could cause the Capital side more problems this time at Queensferry High School (10.30am start) than they did in the cup final.

Edinburgh Jets host South Ayrshire tomorrow (St Augustine’s HS, 2.30pm) with both sides looking for their first win.

In the women’s first division, champions City of Edinburgh dropped a set in their opening win over Edinburgh Jets and take on first division newcomers Aberdonia tomorrow.

Aberdonia raised a few eyebrows by edging North Lanarkshire in five sets last weekend.
