City third in dog bite stats

ONE in three people in the Capital has been bitten by a dog, a new survey has claimed. The study puts Edinburgh in the top three for dog bites, behind Cardiff and Bristol.

The survey, which was carried out by personal injury firm First4lawyers, said that 33 per cent of people in the Capital had been bitten, with Cardiff at 40 per cent and Bristol 34 per cent.

The risk was lowest in Norwich and Nottingham, where just 17 per cent of people had received a dog bite. Across the country, Alsatians and Jack Russells were the breeds most likely to bite.
