City student wins most prestigious Girlguide award

A STUDENT from the Capital has received the UK’s top Girlguiding accolade.

Joanne Knox was presented with the coveted Queen’s Guide Award at a special ceremony at Dalmeny House in South Queensferry. The award sees participants take the lead in a number of areas, including developing a personal skill, working within pioneering community action projects, and overseeing ambitious outdoor pursuits.

Ms Knox, who is an assistant Guide leader and assistant Scottish senior section adviser, as well as being a PhD student, said: “I’ve learned so much through the different skills, awards and activities.”

The Queen’s Guide Award is the most prestigious Guiding award open to members between the ages of 16 and 25.
