City sailor to honour dead

A LOCAL seaman from HMS Dauntless will take part in the Remembrance Day services in London this weekend.

Able Seaman Fraser McDonald, 20, from Corstorphine, is part of the Royal Navy contingent at the Cenotaph on Sunday.

ABS Fraser, a former pupil of West Calder High School, joined up in March 2009.

He said: "I wanted to be part of the November ceremonies because I wanted to be part of the parade that remembers those who have fallen in past conflicts.

"I also want to make my family and my ship proud."

Training has been carried out by the Royal Navy's State Ceremonial Training Team based at HMS Collingwood in Hampshire. HMS Collingwood is the home of the Maritime Warfare School, which provides specialist training to navy personnel.
