City rugby stars join pack for porridge box

TWO city rugby players will replace the shot-putter on the iconic Scott's Porage box.

The porridge is to change its packaging for the first time in half a century to support Scotland's rugby team and Edinburgh Rugby players Chris Paterson and Ross Ford, along with Glasgow Warriors' Thom Evans, will appear on the limited-edition packs, launching this month.

It is the first major packaging change for the 188-year-old company since 1955 and the images show the players in Scotland's new Six Nations kit.

Sean Summers, marketing director for Scott's parent company Quaker, said: "We have always championed Scottish sport and today we are celebrating the heroes of Scottish rugby."

Under the deal, Scott's will supply the team with porridge, and some of the players will visit schools in Fife – the home of Scott's Porage – to tell pupils about healthy eating and exercise.

Chris Paterson said he was "honoured" by his new role.

"I grew up eating Scott's Porage and now eat it before training and a big match.

"It is truly an honour to be on the new packs."
