City cyclists storm to end of epic trek

FOUR friends from Edinburgh who endured tornadoes to complete a charity challenge have returned safely to Edinburgh.

The quartet, who pedalled across the US, were raising cash for the Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre at the Western General.

They will visit the unit this weekend, having endured more than they bargained for during the 3300-mile challenge.

City men 28-year-old Andrew Hall, Adam Kent, 25, Matthew Tulloch and Ben Brown, both 21, surpassed their 10,000 target.

A statement from the four revealed their relief at completing the journey safely, having had to spend the night in storm shelters as a tornado - which took more than 500 lives in America - struck.

"Can't say we'll be too gutted but what an adventure," it read.

"We have seen things most Americans will never see, and we have ventured through some of the worst weather mother nature could conjure up.

"But we did it and we raised our target and that makes everything worthwhile."
