City clipper’s end in sight

EDINBURGH’S entry in the Clipper round-the-world yacht race is on its way home as the finishing line beckons.

A 260-mile sprint from the Netherlands to Southampton is under way, with the Capital’s sailors in sixth place on a tight leaderboard ahead of Sunday’s finish.

Clipper race founder and chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said: “The teams have to pull out every bit of skill and expertise they have learned during their odyssey to try to secure the best position overall.

“All these crew members have achieved something special with their lives.”
