City boxing star Alex has God in his corner

CITY-based boxer Alex Arthur will call into a Capital church next week.

The 1998 Commonwealth Games featherweight gold medallist and one-time World Boxing Organisation super-featherweight title holder, will be at the Life Church in West Richmond Street next Wednesday for a testimony evening. In what promises to be a sell-out, the boxer, who won his last bout against Aleksander Vakhtangashvili at Meadowbank Sports Centre earlier this year, will be interviewed by former Hibs player Carlo Crolla, now an elder at Life Church.

There will also be an opportunity for the audience to put their own questions to Alex about his Christian faith.

A gospel presentation by Douglas Renton, the Life Church evangelist, will then follow.

The meeting, which starts at 7pm, is free and open to all.
