Church leaders discuss sex and environment

THE Scottish Episcopal Church's annual General Synod will begin today in Edinburgh.

During the three-day gathering, members will hear an update on the progress of the Anglican Communion Covenant, which attempts to resolve internal tensions around sexuality within the church, as well as the results of a "gender audit" carried out on the church, and a call for theological and practical responses to the sustainability of the environment.

The synod will also be addressed by the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church (US).
