Church holds Christmas tree festival

A CITY centre church has not just one Christmas tree this year but 50.

St Andrew's and St George's West, which has buildings in George Street and Shandwick Place, has joined with nearby businesses and charities to stage a Christmas tree festival.

Each church building has 25 trees decorated by staff and volunteers from shops, offices, hotels and voluntary organisations in the city.

The trees are on show 10am to 4pm every day except Sundays until December 24.

Treefest organiser Sally Evans said: "We are doing this to celebrate the coming of the baby Jesus, to invite people into our beautiful church buildings, and to get together with our city centre community."

Donations will go to charities for the homeless.
