Every day until Christmas we’re opening another window on our calendar of festive events in Scotland...

No Christmas is complete without a trip to the ballet, and this year Scottish Ballet are eschewing the more traditional Nutcracker for fairytale favourite The Sleeping Beauty, which opens today at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal before touring to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness.

As well as lavish sets and costumes from designer Anthony MacDonald, expect Scottish Ballet’s customary wit in the telling of the classic tale, a glimpse of which you can catch beforehand on their website, where they’ve set up Tutu’s Company – a dating site for handsome princes and sleeping princesses.
