Chips are high for student in £200k ad bid

AN ANIMATION student is in the running for a £200,000 prize after making an advert for Doritos corn snacks.

Dan Castro, a student at Edinburgh College of Art, is a finalist in the company's King of Ads competition. He could win the chance for his work to be shown as part of an advertising campaign.

Unlike most major advertising companies, Dan spent just 6 and four hours on creating his ad, entitled Your Belly Needs Doritos. He has won a laptop computer and home cinema system for his effort.

Dan said: "Although it's a little weird I'm really pleased with how it turned out and really glad its been selected."

Pete Charles, the marketing manager for Doritos, said: "Dan's ad has all the hallmarks of a great commercial – original, slightly odd and above all intriguing."

The final will be judged by BBC Radio 6 presenter Lauren Lavern, Bafta winner Noel Clarke and ad director David Shane.
