China: Student stages own funeral to ‘enjoy it’

A CHINESE student staged her own funeral so she could ‘see what people think of her’ and to ‘enjoy it’.

Zeng Jia, 22, lay motionless in a coffin for an hour as ‘mourners’ passed her coffin in the elaborate charade.

She paid for a full service funeral that included flowers, photographers and make-up artists to make her appear more like a dead body.

Zeng Jia then arose from her coffin to join in the wake with her family and friends.

Zeng said: “It struck me that people spend all that time and effort on someone when they are gone and they cannot appreciate it.

“I wanted to see what people would think of me so I decided to hold my funeral while I could enjoy it.

“Experiencing death has made me appreciate life more keenly.”
