Children to be good sports

THE Commonwealth Games will provide sport and community boosts for Edinburgh, the Scottish Government has said.

Ahead of the event in Glasgow in 2014, Sports Minister Shona Robison outlined a series of commitments to make local children more active.

Several "hubs" will be created in the Lothians, while tens of thousands of pounds will be invested in various initiatives.

The Lothians has one of the worst childhood obesity rates in Scotland, and the health board is keen to improve activity levels in youngsters, as well as making their diets better.
