Child services strategy to be revamped

A NEW plan to improve children’s services in Midlothian over the next three years has been launched.

The plan sets out how different public bodies such as the police, NHS Lothian, the council and the voluntary sector will pull together with children, young people, their parents and communities to make progress.

It also set out a number of targets, including fewer children being affected by drug and alcohol misuse, helping vulnerable children reach their potential, and helping children and young people have safe lives.

Council leader Derek Milligan said: “By working together, Midlothian Council and other organisations are helping to provide a better future for children and young people.

“I’m particularly happy that we’ve been able to work with some very impressive young people in the Midlothian Youth Platform. This plan is all the better for the involvement and ideas of the children and young people who use the services.”
