Chief calls for cafe culture

A CITY centre councillor has called for more non-drinking venues to open late at night.

Councillors recently approved a report that detailed attempts to minimise the impact of late-night drinking, such as a 9000 scheme to install temporary urinals in problem areas.

Another report is to be provided on what legislation can be used to reduce drink-fuelled crime. Tory councillor Joanna Mowat, who represents the city centre ward, said: "We need to look at how people can enjoy themselves and not have a drink. Maybe late-night cafes is an area we should look at."
