Chernobyl tourist restrictions relaxed

Ukraine will allow more tourists into the area around the Chernobyl power plant, the site of the worst nuclear accident in history, the country's Emergency Ministry has said.

The zone has been accessible to visitors only with permission from a department of the Emergency Ministry.

The ministry said yesterday that it would now authorise private firms to carry out guided tours.
