Cheese firm down drain

A CHEESE firm has been shut down over a failure to comply with European raw milk rules.

Scotland's only producer of fresh mozzarella, SS dei Naufragati, from Gifford, East Lothian, had its licence to make cheese withdrawn by officials from Edinburgh City Council.

The firm was forced to pour 800 litres of milk down the drain because it had "insufficient" paperwork for making the unpasteurised product.
