Charity asks people to Give More

A CHARITY campaign was set to be launched in the Capital today.

Give More – a campaign to encourage people across the UK to give more money, time or energy in 2012 to the causes they are care about – was being previewed in the city ahead of the formal UK launch in April.

Campaigners were hitting the streets to try to inspire Edinburgh businesses, charities and individuals to join early adopters who have already pledged their support, including Telereal Trillium and BT.

Eleanor Barnes, a volunteer from Edinburgh with Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland, said: “I’m supporting Give More because I know first-hand how important it is for the survival of charities that people donate their money, time or energy – because without its volunteers Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland couldn’t function – so I’m giving more this year to support people who have lost someone they love.”

Tamar Ghosh, campaign director for Give More, said: “Our natural response is to look to the state, but it is unable to respond to all the issues. So who can? The answer is ‘all of us’.”
