Chantelle on the road to recovery already

A FIVE-year-old girl who was among the first in Scotland to undergo an operation using cutting-edge brain scanning technology is recovering well.

Surgeons at the Sick Kids Hospital used the new "satnav" scanner on Chantelle Cummings on Wednesday to replace a tube which prevents spinal fluid from building up in her brain.

Her mum Charlene said she was back at her home in Longstone and having friends to stay already. She said: "She's so alert and jumping about, you wouldn't think she's just had a major operation

"The consultant said it wouldn't have been possible without the new equipment."

Charlene is holding a fundraiser at Leith's Queen Charlotte Rooms on February 18 to raise money for the Sick Kids and is appealing for raffle prizes. Contact [email protected] to help.
