TRAINSPOTTING star Ewan McGregor has hit out at Boris Johnson with an astonishing expletive-laden tweet.
The Scottish actor, currently in Scotland filming for the long-awaited sequel to Trainspotting, criticised Johnson just moments after the Conservative MP declared he would not be standing as a candidate in the forthcoming Tory leadership contest.
On social media, McGregor directly wrote to the MP: “You spineless c$&t You lead this ludicrous campaign to leave EU. Win, and now fuc& off to let someone else clear up your mess.”
Some of his fans were quick to support the actor. with one writing: “He’s a coward in the trenches whilst others climb over the top.”
But others disagreed, with one tweeting: “What is ludicrous? the voters won - democracy hurts when you lose.”
Earlier this week, McGregor sent a message of support to under fire Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
After the Labour leader tweeted a statement vowing not to ‘betray 60 per cent of Labour members and supporters by resigning’, McGregor replied: “Good for you! The turncoats n your party should be ashamed of themselves. I hope you find the support you deserve.”
