Celebration of learning

EDINBURGH'S second learning festival was set to take place today and tomorrow at Craig- royston Community High.

The festival gives parents the opportunity to see how the new Curriculum for Excellence is developing at national and at local levels, and at how it is being used to revolutionise the teaching of literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing.

City education leader Marilyne MacLaren said: "Our schools are making rapid progress and the festival is a great opportunity to see what's been happening.

"It's important that parents, pupils and staff are fully bought into the benefits of the curriculum and we're keen to show what's been happening in our schools. Our unique festival explains how it's making a difference to the education of young people in our city."
