Castle to
re-open

Crichton Castle, near Pathhead, is open from Friday after its winter shutdown.

Built as the lordly residence of the Crichtons and later home to the earls of Bothwell, the castle is notable for its 16th century courtyard facade.

Susan Loch from Historic Scotland said: “Spring is a great time to enjoy the site, particularly in this the Year of Natural Scotland, and we have lots of great things going on, from nature events to costumed performances to keep visitors entertained.”
