Cash row pair guilty of attempting to murder friends

AN Edinburgh couple have been found guilty of attempting to murder three of their friends in a row over missing cash.

Wayne Alexander and his girlfriend Nikita Thompson went to David Hoggan’s flat on May 25 last year after accusing him of stealing £250 from them.

Alexander, 34, smashed a pint tumbler over Mr Hoggan’s head and stabbed him in the left arm and on the left thigh.

Thompson, 26, slashed Mr Hoggan’s girlfriend Kirsty Ogg on the leg and repeatedly stabbed his pal Bryan Simons, puncturing his lung.

A jury at the High Court in Livingston found the pair, who had denied the attempted murder charges, guilty by a unanimous verdict.

The jury also found the two guilty of being involved in the supply of heroin at Mr Hoggan’s flat over a 15-month period.

Judge Lady Stacey called for background reports on Thompson. All three will be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on February 29.
