Care worker on trial for list of abuse

A CARE home worker is to stand trial accused of committing a catalogue of offences towards residents.

Paul Adamson is accused of assaulting patients at Ranaich House, Dunblane, which cares for adults with learning difficulties and complex behavioural problems, between March 2008 and March 2010.

Stirling Sheriff Court was told yesterday that at that time he was employed at the facility on the town’s Leewood Road, which was run by specialist healthcare provider Castlebeck.

At a pre-trial hearing, Adamson, 34, of Ormond Court, Larbert, Stirlingshire, pleaded not guilty to eight charges of assault.

The charges allege that
Adamson subjected both male and female patients to a list of different physical torments.

He is charged with seizing hold of a woman, dragging her across a room and pinning her against a wall; chasing and throwing stones at another woman, shouting and swearing at her and placing her in a pond.

He is also alleged to have assaulted a man by seizing hold of his clothing and pushing him into a wall; and repeatedly striking another man on the nose with his finger.

The trial is scheduled to begin on 16 September.
