Capital is proving to be the ‘in’ place for businesses

THE number of firms choosing to open for business in the Capital has risen by nearly three quarters compared with the same period last year, a new report has shown.

Research compiled by officebroker.com, the business property comparison website, reported a 73 per cent increase in businesses launching throughout the first nine months of the year.

Data shows there was reduced activity in the market for the first six months of the year but this was followed by a strong third quarter.

Chris Meredith, head of UK sales at officebroker.com, said the findings could signal another strong year for the Edinburgh office market.

“Despite this slow start, the year-to-date activity has surpassed last year’s levels, with a surge in placements between July and September bringing this about,” he said.

“It’s clear that Edinburgh is still a place where firms are keen to do business.”
