Capital filming a surprise for new crime drama star

ACTOR Jason Isaacs has admitted he thought he would be filming a new crime series in Cambridge rather than the Capital.

Case Histories, a six-part adaptation based on books by Edinburgh-based writer Kate Atkinson, will first air tomorrow on BBC1 at 9pm.

Although the first novel was based in Cambridge, the three two-part stories will all take part in the Capital, with the actor, best known for his role of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, playing hero Jackson Brodie.

He plays a former soldier and policeman turned private investigator who has a soft spot for waifs and strays and an inability to say no to cases.

Talking of filming, Isaacs said: "It's been a great way to spend a few months. Edinburgh is a great city."
