Cameras aid war on crime

NORTH Berwick community policeman Cameron Tait has praised the town's new CCTV cameras.

PC Tait said the new cameras had captured several vandalism suspects on screen. He said: "CCTV has already proved invaluable. The chances are it would have been extremely difficult to solve this crime without that information."

Last month there were ten recorded - three vandalisms, three thefts, two assaults, one theft by housebreaking and one drink-driving offence.

Four of these crimes have already been solved.
