The minute-long clip shows the vehicle moving on a country road with oncoming traffic, with the driver claiming that the van is travelling at 55mph.

Midway through the clip, Kevin Hannaway, 24, appears to glide on the van’s left-hand side and asks the driver: “Where’s the nearest shop?”

The men in the van then give him directions before Hannaway suddely swerves away from the van.

With more than 11,000 views, the video has been a big hit on the internet - but the stunt has attracted inevitable criticism from motoring groups and road safety campaigners.

Edmund King, president of the AA, said: “People need to realise the dangers involved in their stunts. They’re putting themselves and others at risk of major injury or worse.”
