Call for Scots boiler scrappage scheme

CAMPAIGNERS have urged the Scottish Government to bring in a boiler scrappage scheme similar to that introduced in England yesterday.

South of the Border, 125,000 households will be given 400 to replace old boilers with new, more efficient models – to cut fuel bills and carbon emissions. The Association for the Conservation of Energy and Reheat Britain have highlighted that Scotland will benefit by about 11 million as a result of the money spent on the English scheme, due to Barnett Consequential rules.

They have called for that money to be pumped into setting up a similar scheme here.

Chas Booth from the Association for the Conservation of Energy said: "It's vital that Scots don't miss out on the energy savings which England will enjoy through this very welcome scheme."
