Call to reveal funding cuts

CITY leaders have been urged to tell community groups what funding cuts they will face as soon as possible.

Labour councillors said at a meeting of the policy and strategy committee that community groups which previously received Fairer Scotland funding needed details of grants for the next financial year, beginning next April, quickly as they may have to give staff 90 days' notice of redundancy.

Jim Inch, the council's director of corporate services, said: "We're in a really difficult position because we don't know yet what funds are available."

He also said that most organisations had been informed of the funding deal they were likely to receive. Council leader Jenny Dawe said she recognised how important it was for organisations to be informed as early as possible.
