Call goes out for successor to run Capital’s festivities

An advert is to go out early in the New Year to find a candidate to operate Edinburgh’s Christmas celebrations in 2012.

The contract is to run the events in and around Princes Street Gardens, and will be advertised by the city council.

Applications will be sought for the production, delivery and management of a range of services including the design, co-ordination and delivery of the Christmas programme of activities, events, attractions and celebrations to attract visitors to Edinburgh.

The selected company will handle creative elements as well as communication and control. The council has confirmed its funding will remain capped at £200,000, which could mean further cutbacks in costs are required. The celebrations are currently operated by events impresario Nickie Gott of Durham-based She’s Gott It.

The advert will be placed on January 11 through the Public Scotland web portal.
