Call for city to go cruelty-free

THE city council should adopt a "cruelty-free purchasing policy", according to one of the Capital's Green councillors.

Councillor Steve Burgess said that the councils of Sheffield and Enfield had both adopted the policy, which means that only cleaning products that are not tested on animals are used.

He has called for the city council to follow suit.

In a motion for Thursday's full council meeting, Cllr Burgess said: "Council notes that councils including Sheffield and Enfield have adopted a cruelty-free purchasing policy which requires the use of cleaning products not tested on animals.
