Cabs decorated for 70th annual Edinburgh taxi trade outing

DOZENS of Edinburgh taxi drivers decorated their cabs to take more than 100 families on the 70th annual Taxi Trade Children's Outing.

Yesterday saw 70 drivers take the day off to take children with special needs, life-limiting conditions and terminal illnesses on a trip to the seaside.

Elaborate designs included an Eddie the Eagle-inspired float to a taxi transformed into Red Riding Hood’s Grandma’s house. This year, one cab paid tribute to Hibs’ success in lifting the Scottish Cup for the first time in 114 years.

The Edinburgh Taxi Trade Outing has been running since 1947, to treat children who might never have the chance to enjoy a day out otherwise.

The convoy of gaudily decorated vehicles will whizzed the young passengers and their families to Yellowcraigs, in East Lothian, for an afternoon of pony rides, funfairs and magic.
