Cable steps up to Strictly role

BUSINESS Secretary Vince Cable yesterday confirmed his intention to star in a Christmas edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

Mr Cable, who is set to partner ballroom professional Erin Boag, informed delegates at the Association of Colleges' annual conference in Birmingham that he was already practising.

Quizzed about reports that he was set to perform on the BBC1 programme, he said: "I have had a couple of practice sessions with Erin, who is absolutely gorgeous and a great teacher. I am looking forward to it."

Mr Cable said he believed former MP Ann Widdecombe had broken down the barrier for politicians to be on the show.
